Elephant in the Room Exhibition - A GREAT SUCCESS

The exhibition was a very popular event with over 1500 visitors in seven days. Demand and sales of my limited edition prints was brilliant. Original paintings received genuine interest, and there are commissions in the pipeline as a result of the show. Customers travelled as far from Nottingham, Bedford and London to see the exhibition, which is very flattering. Some of my art work was purchased by customers for very personal reasons, and this always makes me happy to know my art work makes a difference. The blend of my art work alongside David Morris' evocative photographs delivered a sound contrast. I hope to do a similar event next year - I hope to see some of your faces there too! Thank you.

Paying for the name? Clever or portentous? The exhibition will showcase interesting comments on this subject as well as showing the artwork of Samuel Thomas & David Morris.

Now is your chance to be outspoken about art work .......GO ON LET US HEAR IT!!

Cromer Academy Visit

I spent time leading the art classes with all year groups earlier this week. Revisiting the school I attended 10 years ago was a great experience and I have seen how far I have come since I left the school in 2003. I am sure I have inspired and helped the students in seeing there is real value in applying yourself to art & design. I think they enjoyed being in the presence of a Real Pop Artist, and I enjoyed seeing their varied interpretaions of the world around them.

Soon to be Published in 'International Contemporary Artists'

I am soon to be published in the book which is to be released in May 2012 by New York publishers 'incoartists.com'. The book selects interesting practising contemporary artists from all over the world. I have been selected from only 4 UK artists which is a huge privilege and I look forward to the exposure and the reception I get from readers.

'International Contemporary Artists' is a directory published in New York, identifying all the best artists from around the world in the 2012 edition. Last year there were only 3 British artists who qualified for this prestigious international publication used by worldwide art collectors and investors to research and admire emerging artists' creative work.It is a 'Who's who' of the fast emerging talents of international artists and recognised by fund managers, bankers, art dealers and investors as an essential contemporary reference book.

A Published Artist

http://www.greenpebble.co.uk/artists/samuel-thomas

I have been published in Green Pebble's Nationwide selling book 'East Anglian Artists; how the artists sees places'. Available in all good book shops such as WHS, Jarrolds and Stones. I feature in prime place at the beginning of the book after the foreword. The article explains of my unique painting style and the reasons behind it. Read some of this article by visiting the link above. It is an honour to feature in a book filled with prestigious and innovative East Anglian Artists such as Trevor Woods. I believe my painting style offers alternative scenes of this part of the countryside and beyond, and it is exciting to know more people are getting the chance to see what I do across Britain.

Exhibition at Aldeburgh Contemporary Art Gallery Autumn 2011

The gallery will be exhibiting a selection of my Original paintings on rotation. With the presentation of the paintings together, the atmosphere created will be euphoric and dream like with the presentation of strong pattern and an explosion of colour. Hopefully the sun will be out in force for the event, but if not the paintings will provide an escape from any dull wet weather!

Californian Vacation

Pool Parties, Skiing, VIP suites, Corn Dogs, Vegas Wins and everything in between!!

Picture Above: Taking a break from my usual painting attire ......... and hitting LA!

Picture Below: Having a soak in the Ghost Town - 'Calico'

I have just returned from a 3 week vacation in California with many ideas and inspiration for new paintings. I am planning in the future to create a Californian series of paintings, and the following insight into my trip may give you some clues as to some of the subject matter of new paintigns:

I landed in LA, staying in Hollywood where I discovered it is illegal to cross the roads by not using the pedestrain crossings! Then a long road trip began through the desert venturing to Las Vegas where I used my beginners luck wisely to win 740 dollars from a one time spin on roulette from 20 dollars! Luxor casino, thank you. I soon discovered that the Mini bar of the Mandallay Bay Hotel was not free, far from it, but when I discovered JD & cokes are free in the casinos when you are betting all of my troubles faded away into a blur! I also discovered that everything in america is bigger, even the bath tubs were deeper, I also later discovered in the Log Cabin where we stayed that a 'waste disposal' exists in the kitchen sink plug hole (a spinning blade), I soon realised it is not a good idea to fish things out of the plug hole! On leaving Vegas, we stopped off at Carson City - a smaller older version of Las Vegas which was slightly dated and stuck in a time warp, but I loved it. The locals were fascinated by our english accents and rewared us by buying us our drinks.........which was good as I was on double JD & cokes again! Flew down into the Gran Canyon in a helicopter returning to the cowboy Gran Canyon Ranch where we stayed in log cabins. I drove through Death Valley and through the deserts filled with Joshua Trees where we had a cigar in the desert. Skiing for the first time on actual snow at Big Bear Skii resort was fast and furious so I decided to ditch the second day of skiiing by staying at the cabin and sat in the hot tub overlooking the lake. Other places I saw along the way were San Francisco where we discovered a barman who was playing on the novelty fact that he was 'English' - but he must have been faking it as his accent was far from English! San Diego was also amazing where we spent a night clubbing and stayed at the hard rock hotel VIP suite on grey goose followed by a pool party the following day. Lake Tahoe was a lake, but I cant quite remember what happened there apart from the hire 4X4 was of the same name - 'Tahoe'! Santa Monica and Venice Beach were a highlight - I couldnt believe it - it was like being in the movies. We then travelled back to Hollywood where I invested in some 'tacky' postcards or 'kitch' as the Americans say. A Californian series of paintings will be on their way, vibrant, colourful and surreal reflecting the trip. One day I will return.
