Southwold, Suffolk is celebrated in Samuel Thomas’ vibrant Paintings.

Southwold is a beautiful quintessential seaside town. Steeped in Victorian charm, with a lighthouse, a pier, seafront beach huts, Sandy beaches, and a quaint high street - it’s a charming place and it deserves to be celebrated in stunning paintings that burst with joy and optimism.

Samuel Thomas has created a collection of hand painted artworks celebrating this beautiful location. The Southwold artist shares this collection of paintings here in his own words.

A sunrise illuminates the town in a striking bold portrayal, an unmistakably pop art piece in stunning colour and mesmerising pattern. The wet sand is revealed as the tide has receded and thus acts like a mirror to reflect the sky above in a mesmerising way. The clouds in the sky part to reveal the town and the iconic lighthouse.

Stood on the pier looking back at the town we have the rolling sea beneath our feet, this painting (above) captures that vantage point. The artist has incorporated his signature sunburst motif as a nod to the Art deco period that celebrated these seaside towns back in the 1920’s.

As we venture around the town we find charming Victorian architecture and the pub that is the sole bay inn, shown below.

My painting style blends elements of art deco and Pop art to create distinctive artworks that are times and contemporary. In many ways some of the paintings echo back to the 1920 rail posters.

All of my original paintings are created using paint brush by hand using my meticulous attention to detail and my unique painting techniques.

Capturing a flash from the lighthouse in the most geometric and mesmerising fashion.

Sometimes I use muted tones to create a painting that is more tranquil in atmosphere.
